Service

My commitment to service has long been instilled in by my family. In 2015, I accompanied my grandmother, Dr. Ila Shah, on a clean water service trip to Gujarat, India. My grandmother was born and raised in a village in Gujarat, so it was important to both of us to visit these sites of our heritage and give back to the community. Together with Rotary International, we unveiled Reverse Osmosis Filtration Plants that had been installed in the villages and showed local families how to use the new technology.

Upon matriculating at high school the following fall, I started a local chapter of the Interact Club, which is Rotary International’s network of high school clubs. My classmates and I have since raised funds for Project ECHO, which supports homeless individuals, and the Special Olympics.
